Making human activity beyond Earth feel present.

Exterior is a public-facing interface for observing the technological, scientific and human activity taking place beyond Earth: satellites, orbital stations, radio signals, telescopes, space weather and near-Earth events.

Why Exterior exists

Space activity is usually presented as a stream of isolated facts, trackers or technical dashboards. Exterior tries to turn that fragmented information into a single experience of presence: what is above us, what is transmitting, what is being observed, and where humans are currently living beyond Earth.

For the general public

Exterior translates complex orbital and scientific activity into a calm, legible experience. The default interface is designed to be understandable without specialist knowledge.

For curious and advanced users

Deeper layers remain available for people who want to investigate: object identity, orbital context, source links, signal evidence, facility details and technical metadata.

Human presence

One of Exterior’s central ideas is that human spaceflight should not feel abstract. The interface highlights people currently in space and is being designed so that verified voices from orbit could one day appear inside the experience without being confused with ordinary community messages.

Community

Exterior includes a live global chat for observers. The goal is not to build a generic social network, but to let people share what they are looking at and gradually learn from real usage before deciding whether dedicated rooms or research-oriented spaces are needed.

Data and editorial principles

Exterior uses public and openly accessible sources whenever possible, clearly separates reported data from derived calculations, and avoids presenting uncertain or unavailable information as if it were live fact. The project is independent and is not affiliated with NASA, ESA, CMSA or any other space agency.

Origin

Exterior is an independent project created in Argentina by David Vaca. It is currently in beta and is being developed as a mobile-first experience, because the intended use is not sitting at a desk — it is looking up, moving around, and carrying the outside world in your pocket.

For space agencies, astronauts, researchers and observatories

If you would like to contribute a verified greeting, public educational message, source correction or institutional contact, Exterior would be glad to hear from you.
